Ruth the Sleuth and the Messy    Room  lllustrated by Kimberly

Soderberg, Mazo Publishers

Did you ever lose something, because your room was so messy?  That is exactly what happened to Ruth, as she searches her very messy room for a potholder she borrowed from her mother.  Ruth gets distracted again and again by the wonderful items she finds within her mess. But, will she be able to find her mom’s potholder in time to have cookies with her friend, Zack?

Ruth the Sleuth and the Messy Room was the 30th story I had written and the second to be published as a book. In October 2010 I saw a call for submissions on the SCBWI discussion boards from a new publishing company that sounded like a fit for my work.  I submitted Ruth the Sleuth and the Messy Room and heard back seven months later that the publisher was interested.

Then in July 2013 I found out that Ruth the Sleuth and the Messy Room was selected to receive the Children's Literary Classics Seal of Approval.  The CLC Seal of Approval is a designation reserved for those books which uphold the rigorous criteria set forth by the Children's Literary Classics review committee, a team comprised of individuals with backgrounds in publishing, editing, writing, illustration and graphic design.  Awesome!

Ruth the Sleuth has a new publisher, Mazo Publishers as of February 2018, in a large print paperback edition.
